Local History

"Chippewa Lake, named after the Chippewa Indians, is the largest body of water in the county.

The village was platted by the Chippewa Lake Lumber Company. Solomon V. Tice became its first postmaster on February 10, 1870. A station on the Detroit, Grand Rapids & Western Railroad."
